After months of half finished pieces and balls of wool dotted over the house, nights of sitting with my crochet hook, half concentrating, half nattering or watching some telly .. I've gathered together the final products... the sellable ones... in preparation for my first craft fair this Sunday.

Alongside my calendars and postcards I plan on having a little basket of these woolly creations. Prices are starting cheap as they are kind of the beginning of something.. an experiment perhaps - that I hope will develop.

Knitting and crochet was an unexpected hobby that I've really gotten into. One of the ways I've have been able to be expressive and creative, alongside being Mummy at home with my girlies.

Stock includes wrist warmers and cowls in various colours and wools.

The first fair is this Sunday (1st Dec), at...
The Hub, Vicarage Rd, Kings Heath, Birmingham.

If your local be sure to drop in and say hi!

I'll post some photos of the event next week. Have a great weekend. x

I read this quote on a blog recently....

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”

I like her thinking.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Sunday nights do have a certain charm about them, particularly at this time of year. I'm not one for putting the decor up too early, but I've started thinking about where we might put the tree.

Anyway, just wanted to stop by here and say 'hi' ... Have a good week. x

(These photos were taken last weekend when we visited my sister down in Hove.)

Meet Asher...

... the newest member of our family. He's 1 month old and we had the pleasure of meeting him for the first time last weekend.

I got some snaps of him and thought I'd share some on here...

Cousins getting cosy! (Anouk has such a soft spot for him!)

His beautiful crib and handmade mobile... birds on a twig, made by his clever Mummy.

I enjoyed my cuddles too.

You can see more of my portrait work on my website if you fancy.

Hope everyone's having a lovely week... despite the horrid weather. I am keeping dry & hibernating indoors, doing some finishing touches to the new house and when I get the chance curling up with either my knitting or my girls. :)

Don't forget about my new 2013 calendars which you can order from my online shop, it's been a slow start so hopefully I'll get some eager buyers this week. ;)

Decorating for girls...

For me, one of the most fun parts about moving into our own home was decorating the girls rooms...

At the moment they have a room of their own. With our youngest being an earlier riser we are keeping them apart a little longer.

I may post some pictures of the final outcome in a couple of weeks if you like and if I'm brave enough to share... but I just thought I'd put up some of my inspiration for the decor, for me as much as anyone that might read this...
I'm no expert, I have simply tried to incorporate things I have liked from design blogs, magazines and (more importantly) my own girls tastes & characters!

...

First up, vintage fabrics, toys or furniture are a favourite look - they look really cool and create an authentic feel to the room. The combination of vintage and modern is very appealing to me and I've managed to bag some great finds in the local charity shops round here.

Fun artwork, photographs, posters or postcards dotted about... give a more personal touch.

Colour on white is fun and helps things stand out.

Organisation is helpful... for tidying away at the end of the day and can look good too.

Creative areas, i.e. book corners, area for arts & crafts, little desk.

Soft lighting, for bedtime reading and winding down at the end of the day.

Display special nicnacs and treasured ornaments creatively...

Toys put away, out of sight - kids forget all about them, so when you bring them out for them to play with, they appreciate them more and it's like Christmas!

And most importantly, as you can see ... 'girly' doesn't have to be naff and sugary with pink fluffy bunnies everywhere. ;)

The End.

*2013 Fine Art Calendar*

Things have been a quiet on the blog lately, I've been a busy bee. Last week we moved house and after a manic first few days of unpacking (I don't want to see another cardboard box in a very long time), it's been feeling more and more like home here. Our furniture finally arrived after being in storage for the last 6 months and i was happily reunited with my things again. It's funny how you forget what you have!

It's actually been a year since we were in a place of our own... there's a lot you miss about having that space. But despite that we've enjoyed the adventure.. and 'alternative' living arrangement. ;)

Anyway, back to business. With no further ado... I'm really happy to be able to share my 2013 calendar with you, which is now available to buy in my shop. Please go check it out!

I hope you like it.

You can purchase them at my online shop or at the Bearwood Winter Fair on the 8th Dec where I will have a stall. :)

Thanks... Carolyn x
